Tension in Nabarangpur DHH after 4-year-old child’s death

Nabarangpur: Tension gripped the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) last night after a four-year-old child succumbed under treatment and his family alleged medical negligence by the doctors and staffs.

As per the report, one Suresh Suna of Jhadakusumi village under Papadahandi block of the district had admitted his 4-year-old child Abhijit Suna to the Nabarangpur DHH at around 3.30 am in the night for treatment. The child was suffering from fever and was critical.

However, Suna has alleged that the doctor who was on duty at the hospital was slipping in his chamber and didn’t come to check the patient despite repeated appeal from him and his family.

“The doctor who was on duty at the hospital at the time of admission of my son came to attend him after around 45 minutes. After checking him he told me to bring blood for transfusion. However, the blood bank staffs returned me for two occasions over different reasons before providing blood finally. Till then my son had passed away,” claimed Suna.

The family of the deceased child were holding a protest inside the DHH demanding stringent action on the accused doctor and blood bank staffs for dereliction of duty till this report was being filed.
