Temple located inside Puri Srimandir looted, donation money lost

Puri: Pointing at the porous security arrangements at Sri Jagannath temple in the religious town Puri, unidentified miscreants decamped with cash from a Hundi (donation box) kept on its premise last night.

The burglary came to light this morning after a servitor namely Haribol Singhari who has been assigned with the duty of performing morning Puja at Sriram temple located inside Srimandir reached for his duty and found the donation box locks broken. After conducting a search inside the temple he found the netted doors broken and a few idols also missing.

“The looters have taken away two small idols and a ‘Salagram sila’ from the temple and made an unsuccessful attempt to steal an Astadhatu idol during the burglary,” said the servitor.

Meanwhile, Singhdwara Police has reached the spot for investigation and examining the CCTV footage available with the temple.
