Rourkela: One man died and four others were injured after being hit by a truck while a group of six suspected robbers was trying to loot the driver of the vehicle late last night near Rourkela.
Police said that the group of six people on two motorcycles managed to intercept the iron plate laden truck going from Kalunga to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh near Vedabyas. The miscreants later threatened the driver of the truck Sandip Kumar and took away Rs 20000 from him.
However, the driver in a bid to escape from the miscreants pressed the accelerator and dashed both the motorcycle. While one of the miscreants identified as Som Kujur died on the spot, four others were also injured. One of them managed to escape from the spot.
Police later rushed to the spot and seized the truck along with the two motorcycles. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Ispat General Hospital.
