Snowfall cripples normal life in Daringbadi

Phulbani: Normal life was disrupted due to snowfall in Daringbadi town of Kandhamal district on Sunday. Daringbadi, which is known as Kashmir of Odisha, shivered at 4 degree Celsius following the sudden plunge in temperature and return of cold wave conditions last night.

Streets wore a deserted look with shops downing the shutters. The residents of the town despite important works preferred to stay indoors due to the chill winter.

Apart from Daringbadi, eight other places of the state witnessed temperature below 10 degree Celsius as the cold conditions made a comeback after a brief lull.

According to the regional meteorological department, the lowest temperature was recorded at 3.5 degree Celsius in Phulbani.

Sundergarh (7.5), Hirakud (7.6), Baripada (8), Jharsuguda (8.5), Keonjhar (8.9), Sambalpur (9.6), Jharsuguda (8.5) are the other places where the mercury dipped below 10 degree Celsius.

Similarly, Bhubaneswar recorded 14.4 degree Celsius temperature while Cuttack saw 12.4 degree Celsius temperature.
