Severe heat warning in Odisha as temperatures soar, Kalbaisakhi warning from April 21

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) have issued severe heat wave warning from April 25 till 29 in the entire Odisha.

As per the NCEP and ECMWF forecast, the wind will change direction from the coming Sunday. The wind direction and speed will take a turn. While wind will start blowing from the southeast in the coastal region, the direction in the western and northern will be from the north-northwest. Moreover, from over 22kmph wind speed in the coastal region currently, the models predict the wind speed slowing down to around 12kmph.

Following which there will be rise in temperature. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will also face the severe heat wave conditions.

The people should try their best not to get them exposed to direct heat till 4 pm, the IMD said.

Sonepur recorded the highest temperature of 44.4 degree celsius. While Bolangir recorded 44.3, followed by Titlagarh at 43.5, Angul at 43.1 degree celsius.

Norwester (Kalabaisakhi ) rains is likely to lash the seven district in the State along with thunder from April 21.

Yellow warning forecast in districts like Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore. The forecast time is between 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM.
