Phulbani: An RTI activist was shot dead by unidentified persons at Patrasahi under Baliguda police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday.
The activist, identified as Abhimanyu Panda, was standing in front of his house this morning when two bike-borne miscreants sprayed bullets on him and fled from the spot. He sustained bullet injuries in his chest.
Hearing the sound of firing, locals rushed to the spot and rescued Panda in a critical condition. Panda was immediately rushed to the Baliguda Hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
On being informed, Baliguda police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter. “Investigation is on; it is yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack on Panda,” police said.
