Balasore: In a shocking incident, an elderly woman was critically injured and looted in Balasore district of Odisha, said reliable reports on Wednesday.

The elderly woman was looted off Rs. 8 lakh and almost 100 grams of gold by armed dacoits.  The robbery took place in Gopalpur police station limits of Balasore district.

The woman said reliable reports is critically ill and has been hospitalized.

According to reports, Rajkishore Gupta runs a wholesale grocery store near Junia Bazar Ram Temple and lives there. Last night Rajkishore went to the station while Rajkishore’s mother was alone at home.

Armed robbers entered the house late at night, attacked Shantilata with sharp weapons, looted gold and money and went away. Rajkishore reached home and rescued his mother who was lying in a pool of blood.

He was first admitted to Gopalpur and then Balasore hospital in critical condition. Gopalpur police are investigating the incident, said latest reports.
