Rituals of Puri Lord Jagannath for Kartika month to begin from tomorrow

Puri: The rituals of Lord Jagannath and siblings in the Srimandira in Puri of Odisha for the month of Kartika (Kartika Niti) will commence from tomorrow. The Srimandira administration has finalised the schedule for the rituals.

As per the schedule the temple gate will be opened at 4 am in the dawn which will be followed by Mangala Alati, Mailam, Tadapalagi, Abhakasha. These rituals will be followed by Radha Damodara Besha, Gopala Ballav, Sakaladhupa, Baladhupa, Bhogamandapa and Madhyanha Dhupa. After the second Bhogamandapa the Diba Pahuda ritual will take place.

The evening rituals will include Sandhya arati followed by Sandhya Dhupa and Bada Singhara Besha.

On November 12 Monday, the idols will wear the Harihara Besha after the Abakasha ritual while on November 19 the Lords will wear the Thiakia Besha or Laxminarayana Besha and then Hari Utthapana niti will be performed.

On November 21 the Lords will wear Adikia Besha or Tribikrama Besha, on November 22 the idols will be decorated with the Dalikia Besha or Nrusingha Besha. On November 23 Lord Jagannath will wear the Rajadhiraja Besha.

Ample arrangement has been made by Srimandira administration as well as the District administration for the month of Kartika. Police will be deployed in and out of the temple for swift darshan of the deities by devotees. As many as 8 platoon Police Force will be engaged for the same. On holidays and special days more police personnel will be deployed keeping in view the crowd.
