Bargarh: A rape allegation has been levelled against an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Odisha police for allegedly raping a minor girl whom a man had kidnapped from her house. The incident has taken place in Melchhamunda area under Sohela police limit of the district.
According to reports, a man named Kaibalya Nag kidnapped a 10th standard girl student from her house. He then kept the girl in the house of Banmali Kuanr, the ASI of Sohela police station, with his permission. Later, pretending to help her, Kuanr took the girl to his official residence. However, he allegedly sexually assaulted her when Kaibalya had gone somewhere else.
After learning about the matter, the minor girl’s father lodged an FIR against Kaibalya, based on which he was arrested by the cops.
Meanwhile, based on the girl’s allegation, police are investigating into the matter to know the involvement of the Police ASI, who is now at the large.
The girl has been sent to the hospital for a medical test.
