Puri Bada Danda all set for Ratha Jatra, Rathas to be pulled at 4 PM

Puri: The Bada Danda (Grand Road) in the Pilgrim City of the state is all set for the world famous Ratha Jatra to be held tomorrow.

The district administration and police have made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the nine-day festival of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

As many as 140 platoons of police, 1000 officers, 2 units each of NDRF, ODRAF, Rapid Action Force, Odisha Swift Action Force, Special Task Force will be deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the annual festival.

The National Security Guard (NSG) will also be stationed to combat any possible terrorist attack. Besides, 300 lifeguards will be put in place for the safety of devotes on Puri sea beach.

Meanwhile, the chariots have been taken from construction yard to Singhadwar near Singha Dwara, from where they will begin their journey with the deities towards the Gundicha Temple tomorrow.

Lakhs of devotees are expected to gather on Bada Danda to witness the chariot festival.

Here are the rituals and the timing:

Mangal Alati – 6 AM

Abakasha Puja – 7 AM

Gopala Vallabha Bhoga – 8 AM – 9 AM

Rath Pratistha – 9 AM

Pahandi Bije – 9.30 AM – 12.30 PM

Chita Lagi – 1.30 PM

Chera Panhara – 2 PM – 3 PM

Ratha Tona (pulling) – 4 PM
