While a two-year-old boy was bitten by a stray dog outside the Shree Jagannath Temple, a minor girl suffered burns from diya inside the temple.

Puri: Two unfortunate incidents took place in Puri City today. While a two-year-old boy was bitten by a stray dog outside the Shree Jagannath Temple, a minor girl suffered burns from diya inside the temple.

A family from Balugaon area of Khurda district had reportedly come for the darshan of Lord Jagannth and his siblings. They were standing in the line inside the barricade meant for the devotees. In the meantime, a stray dog rushed to the barricade and bit the two-year-old boy of the family.

Soon, his family members along with others managed to rescue the child from the dog. However, by that time he had sustained grievous injuries. Later, the child was given treatment at the First Aid Centre near the temple.

In the second such case, a minor girl, who is said to be a native of Hyderabad, sustained burn injuries after her dress caught fire from a diya (earthen lamp) inside the temple. She was admitted at the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
