Puri: President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife visited the Jagannath temple in Puri today. They were escorted inside the ‘garbha gruha’ for darshan.
The Gajapati Maharaj of Puri greeted the President and his family with a ‘khanduaa patta’ ( Odisha handloom saree ) when they reached the ‘Singha Dwara’, following which they entered into the temple.
The President and his family spent about 40 minutes in the temple. They also went to Maa Laxmi and Maa Bimala temple inside the premises of Sri Mandir for darshan.
After their darshan, President Kovind donated Rs 1 lakh to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
He was accompanied by Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
