Sambalpur: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Pratap Jena today held a series of review meetings with the Director and senior faculty members of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla.
On the first day of his two-day visit to Sambalpur district, Jena inspected the functioning of various departments of the hospital.
His meeting with members of the Citizens Committee later in the day ended on a sour note with the latter complaining about the curtailment of the administrative and financial powers of the Dean.
During his stay at VIMSAR, the minister inaugurated a couple of medical wards, a Guest House and a hostel building meant for the senior resident doctors. He also laid the foundation stone for the Maternity and Child Healthcare block in the hospital estimated to cost Rs 21 crores.
