Rourkela: A postal agent allegedly cheated Rs 19 lakh from around 10 businessmen promising them higher interest from Sector 5 area in Rourkela.
The victims alleged that the postal agent Sibatsa Barik collected deposits to the tune of 19 lakh in past several months. “He fled from the area a few days ago. We tried to contact him over his mobile but his mobile remained not reachable,” alleged a duped businessman.
The group of businessmen, however, visited his home in Keonjhar district and brought his elder brother forcefully after they failed to trace Barik there. The duped businessmen later handed over Barik’s elder brother to the Sector 19 police station.
