Polythene cover over Ananda Bazaar shops to be removed, Shree Mandir doors to be opened at 2 AM

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to replace the existing polythene covers over shops with modern tensile fabric structures.

Puri: In a move aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Shree Mandir’s Ananda Bazaar in Puri, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to replace the existing polythene covers over shops with modern tensile fabric structures. The decision to this effect was taking during a meeting held today to discuss the beautification and streamlining of Ananda Bazaar.

Ranjan Kumar Das, the SJTA administrator, briefed the media about decision taken in the meeting and said, “A decision was taken at the meeting on the beautification of the Ananda Bazaar. The polythene sheets drawn over the roofs of the shops at Ananda Bazaar will be removed and tensile fabric structures will be used there.”

The move is expected to not only improve the visual aesthetics of the iconic Ananda Bazaar but also contribute to environmental sustainability by replacing polythene with more eco-friendly materials.

Additionally, the SJTA administration announced that the Pahili Bhoga ritual for the deities in Srimandir is scheduled to commence from December 16 and this will continue till January 14, 2024. During this period, the temple doors will be opened from 2 AM every day.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the pricing of Abhada, and it was has been decided that prices will be revised after careful consideration.
