Malkangiri: The undertrial prisoner who had escaped from Malkangiri Sub Jail last Tuesday has been arrested by police today.
As per Malkangiri Police the prisoner namely Ajit Dakua was caught by a police team from a forest near MV-45 village, this morning.
Dakua, who was cooling his heels behind the bars at Malkangiri Sub Jail after being arrested by Orkel Police on January 19 this year for trafficking cannabis, had managed to escape through a drain of the jail on March 5. His escape came to light after the jail authorities conducted an inspection the same night and found Dakua missing.
Later, the jail Superintendent had lodged a case under section 224 of IPC with Malkangiri Police post the prisoner’s escape.
