Police arrest 2 more in Puri minor girl gang rape case

Puri: Expediting the probe in the Puri minor girl gang rape case, police arrested two more persons including a woman today.

The held persons have been identified as Ranjit Parida and his wife Soumya Sefalika.

The fresh arrests have taken the total number of people held in the case to six, said Puri Police today.

Notably, the shameful incident took place on December 2 while the victim girl was waiting near Nimapara bus stand when a group of four persons kidnapped her in a car on pretext of providing lift.

The accused took her to a government quarter located in police reserve line later where two of them outraged her modesty.

After the accused lodged a case in connection with the incident on December 3, Kumbharapada Police arrested Jitendra Sethi, a dismissed constable, and his associate Rajesh. On December 6, another Ramachandra Panda was taken into custody.
