PIL filed in Orissa HC against Odia movie ‘Mr Kanheiya’ for hurting religious sentiments

Cuttack: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Orissa High Court against the Odia movie ‘Mr Kanheiya’.

Reportedly, the petition has been filed by Dilip Kumar Samantaray. He stated that some scenes in the movie have demeaned Hindu gods and goddesses.

He further stated that the movie has all sorts of offensive scenes about Hindu deities that have hurt the religious sentiments of the people. Hence, it has insulted Hindu culture.

He has demanded that the movie should be banned from being released. The petitioner further added that the filmmaker should be asked to respond in the context of the offending scene.

Notably, Mr Kanheiya is a Odia movie starring Papu Pom Pom, Jhilik, Pradyumna Lenka in prominent roles. It is a comedy-drama directed Ramesh Rout with Sitaram Agrawal as producer, forming part of the crew.
