OMFED milk price hiked by Rs 4 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Adding to the pocket pinch of consumers the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED) announced to hike the rate of packaged milk by Rs 4 per litre across variants today.

As per a circular of OMFED, the decision to hike the price of the milk was taken after the dairy farmers increased the selling price of the same by Rs 3. The new rate will be applicable from September 27, it added.

Following the rate hike, premium or gold premium milk will be available at a cost of Rs 44 per litre now against its earlier price of Rs 40. Similarly, the price of the toned milk variant will be available at the price of Rs 38 per litre against its earlier rate of Rs 34.

Similarly, milk retailers will now pay Rs 36.70 per litre for toned milk, Rs 41.75 for premium milk and Rs 40.75 for gold premium.

Notably, the OMFED milk price has remained unchanged in the State since last December 2014 whereas some private players in the field have already introduced a hike.
