Odisha’s Anita Parida gets Florence Nightingale Award

New Delhi: Sister Anita Kumari Parida from Odisha was among the 35 nurses whom President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the prestigious Florence Nightingale Awards for their outstanding services during a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of International Nurses Day on Saturday.

Anita who works at Kalimela Community Health Centre (CHC) in Maoist affected Malkangiri district was conferred with the prestigious award as recognition for her dedication for work.

The health worker had played a pivotal role during Japanese Encephalitis outbreak in 2016. Besides, 100% institutional delivery has been done in the Mudakhal Sub-Centre due to her dedication and hard work.

Malkangiri district administration had awarded her as best Health Worker in the district earlier this year.

Kovind lauded the dedication and contribution of nurses to the nation and stressed on the need for strengthening the nursing sector.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also congratulated Anita on the achievement. “Congratulations to Ms Anita Kumari Parida on being conferred Florence Nightingale Award by Hon’ble #PresidentKovind. She is face of our front line warriors who are driving mission #HealthForAll, earning national & international praise. Filled with pride over her recognition,” Patnaik said on his twitter handle.
