Angul: In another disheartening incident in Odisha, a youth from Angul district has committed suicide over failed love affair on Valentine’s Day.
The deceased has been identified as Abhijeet Pattnaik, aka Jackie. He was 27.
Reportedly, Abhijeet was working as an engineer in a private company where he was earning a hefty amount of salary. He was living with his mother, brother, sister-in-law, and his niece in Angul.
Abhijeet was in a love relationship with a girl of Sikhyakapada for the last 15 years. Both the families had even agreed to their marriage and had fixed it to happen soon.
However, due to some unknown reason, the girl’s family suddenly decided to break off the marriage proposal with Abhijeet and fixed her marriage with some other youth. Due to this, he was heartbroken and tried to convince the girl’s family.
All his efforts went in vain as the girl’s family, instead of understanding his emotions, threatened him and asked him to stay away from the girl.
Thereafter, Abhijeet thought that his life has been devastated and decided to take the extreme step to end his life. He released a video of himself just before he committed suicide where he had confessed that “I won’t be able to live without her.” He asked his mother to forgive him for taking this step of his life and also said to inform the girl about his feelings as well as about his decision to end his life.
Abhijeet had also written a suicide note before hanging himself to death, added reports.
Earlier a similar incident took place in Bhubaneswar where a youth, identified as Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi, had committed suicide and lost his life over an alleged failed love affair.
