Odisha woman jumps into well with toddler daughter due to family dispute in Khordha district

Khordha: In a tragic incident a married woman jumped into a deep well along with her one and half month old daughter in a motive for suicide due to family dispute on Saturday. The incident took place in the Balarampur sahi in Tangi area of Khordha district in Odisha.

As per reports, Manas Das of the Pradhan sahi in Tangi had married Tapaswini Behera after falling in love with her. One and half months ago the couple was blessed with a daughter. However, as the health condition of the new-born baby deteriorated, she was admitted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar and had been kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Few days back the baby was discharged from the hospital and since then the mother and the daughter were living at her father’s place in the Balarampur sahi of Tangi.

However, family dispute continued between Tapaswini and her husband Manas. On Friday night the couple reportedly quarrelled again and as a result today morning the lady reportedly jumped into an open deep well along with her toddler daughter. However, after sometime seeing her daughter dying in front of her she screamed for help and the locals rescued the baby girl with the help of a bucket.

Finding difficult to rescue the woman, the fire services officials were called. After getting information fire services officers of the Tangi Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and rescued the woman from the well. She was then admitted to Tangi hospital in a critical condition. Later, as health condition deteriorated, the mother and daughter were shifted to Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment, the hospital authorities said.
