Bhubaneswar: The venue of the State Level Independence day parade which used to be held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg is likely to be changed from this year. A final decision in this regard will be taken on August 5.
Police sources said that the tentative places which have been identified for state-level Independence Day parade include Kalinga Stadium, Exhibition Field and Janata Maidan.
Police DG, R.P Sharma along with other senior police officials including police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty and DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo made an inspection of the Exhibition Field.
“ The state government is planning to celebrate Independence Day on a grand note. Any other venues other than the Mahatma Gandhi Marg can accommodate more people. However Mahatma Gandhi Marg will remain as the venue for the state-level Republic Day celebration,” said a senior police official.
