Odisha Tribal Minister hails KISS on varsity status

Balangir: The ST & SC Development Minister of Odisha Ramesh Chandra Majhi on Friday congratulated Dr. Achyuta Samanta and the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) on obtaining deemed university status, while attending a programme here.
The minister said, “I congratulate Dr. Achyuta Samanta and KISS on getting deemed university status. It is really a proud moment for all tribal communities of our state.”
“Currently, around 25000 students are getting free education in KISS. With this move, more and more tribal students of our state will be enrolled in KISS and benifit from it,” he added.
The Minister also appreciated the efforts of founder of KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta, who has transformed the lives of thousands of tribal children by providing free education, food and accommodation at KISS.
Majhi’s comment comes a day after Prime Minister Narendera Modi congratulated KISS University on attaining university status.
In August this year, KISS was accorded deemed University status and went on to become the first Exclusively Tribal University in the world.
