Odisha: Rainfall intensity to increase from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Rainfall intensity in Odisha is likely to increase from tomorrow, predicted the Bhubaneswar-based regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

The IMD predicted rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over most of the places of the State. This apart, districts like Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri are likely to witness heavy rainfall tomorrow.

The weatherman further said that heavy rainfall is likely to lash the interior parts of the State by June 30 saying that a rainfall of 7-11 cm is expected to occur during this time.

Likewise, heavy rainfall is predicted over the north and coastal parts of Odisha by July 1 and in South Odisha by July 2.

After the south monsoon hit Odisha, the state has reportedly received a rainfall of 100.4 mm between June 16 and June 18, which is 15 per cent less than the normal rainfall.
