Odisha Private Schools To Conduct Online Admission Of Students Belonging To EWS

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced that the private schools across the State will have to conduct online admission of students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

While informing about the development, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that the decision has been taken following allegations of irregularities in the admission of EWS seats in some private schools.

Dash also informed that a portal (www.rteparadarshi.odisha.gov.in) has been prepared for this purpose and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would launch it soon. This would definitely bring transparency in the admissions of students under EWS quota.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the private schools must reserve 25% of their seats for the poor and underprivileged students as per Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act.

On the other hand, the State government on Friday informed that Commerce stream will be introduced in as many as 30 Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAV) of the State.
