Khurda : Odisha Police nabbed dreded criminal Firoz Khan after a brief encounter near Nirakarpur in the district late last night.
Firoz, who was involved in over forty cases of criminal cases, suffered a gunshot injury in his left leg during the encounter, informed Khurda police.
Following a tip-off about Firoz’s presence in Nirakarpur , police spotted him at the market area. The criminal hurled a bomb to escape, but got injured in retaliatory firing by the police.
At least three police personnel of Nirakarpur police station namely IIC Saroj Upadhyay, ASI Sankarshan Aaicha and Constable Akshay Gumansingh also sustained injuries during the attack. All were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Firoz was immediately rushed to the Khurda District Headquarters hospital. Later, he was shifted to capital hospital in Bhubaneswar.
