Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has begun the process for the upcoming panchayat election in the State by asking all the District Magistrates and Collectors to take immediate steps to complete the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats of 105 Municipalities/Notified Area Council (NAC) by December 13, 2021.
Director of Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak, has written a letter to all the concerned District Magistrate and Collectors and issued the dateline for completion of delimitation of wards and reservation of seats.
According to the dateline, the programme of delimitation of wards and reservation of seats, in respect of the Municipal Bodies, have been approved by the Government and required to be completed by 13.12.2021 as per the programme indicated below:
- The delimitation of wards under section 12 of the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 and Reservation of Seats under section 11 of the said Act by the concerned District Magistrate and issue of draft notification inviting objections and suggestions on the proposed delimitation of wards and reservation of seats under section 12(3-a) of the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 and read with Rule 2-A (i) of the Odisha Municipal (Delimitation of Wards, Reservation of Seats and Conduct of Election) Rules, 1994 by the District Magistrates to be completed by November 9, 2021.
- Last date of receipt of objection and suggestions by the District Magistrates under Rule 2-A of the said rules is November 18, 2021.
- Publication of the Notification relating to the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats by District MaQistrates under Rule 2A (5) is November 29, 2021.
- Appeal against the publication of Notification made by the District Magistrates as mentioned at item-3 above for delimitation of wards and reservations of seats before the Government in H & U.D. Department as per proviso to Section-12 (3) (b) of the said Act is to be held between November 29, 2021 and December 13, 2021.
