Keonjhar: Superintendent of Police (SP) of Keonjhar Mitrabhanu Mahapatra had a narrow escape after his vehicle was hit by a truck at Jharabeda under Turumunga police limits this afternoon.
Though the IPS officer did not sustain any injuries the Scorpio vehicle was badly damaged in the mishap.
The incident took place when the SP was on his way to the Turumunga police station for an inspection.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck had a head-on collision with the vehicle in which Mahapatra was travelling. Police have detained the truck driver and are further interrogating him to ascertain whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
