Putting all speculations regarding extension of the tenure of Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal, the State government has reportedly given him permission to retire from government services.
Bhubaneswar: Putting all speculations regarding extension of the tenure of Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal, the State government has reportedly given him permission to retire from government services.
As per the notification issued by the Home Department, the State government has allowed DGP Sunil Bansal to retire on December 31, 2023, as per his age of retirement.
“Shri Sunil Kumar Bansal, IPS (RR-1987), D.G. of Police, (HoPF), Odisha is allowed to retire from Government services w.e.f 31.12.2023 AN on completion of his two years tenure as DGP (HoPF), Odisha,” read the notification.

Bansal had served as Mayurbhanj SP between May 15, 1992 and January 22, 1994 and vigilance SP in Sambalpur from January 30, 1994 to September 26, 1994 before going for nearly 27 years on central deputation. He was posted as the DGP after his return from the central deputation.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that the State government has finalized the names of five IPS officers – B Radhika, YB Khurania, AM Prasad, Arun Sarangi and Sudhanshu Sarangi- on the basis of seniority and it will sent the list to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) following which the new DGP will be appointed.
