Cuttack: Self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raula was released from Choudwar jail on Thursday evening.
Hundreds of people have gathered outside the Choudwar Circle Jail to witness the release of Sarathi Baba who was escorted out amidst high security.
Sarathi was released after Orissa High Court granted him bail on Monday. He was granted the bail against a bond of Rs. 2 lakh and two bailers. The court has also directed him not to influence witnesses and cooperate in the investigation into the charges against him.
Sarathi was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch on August 8, 2015, from Barimula Ashram in Kendrapara district on charges of sexual assault and physical exploitation of women.
