Odisha: Four Arrested For Celebratory Firing In Puri

Puri: Police today arrested four persons in connection with a video of two men firing in the air during an event in the town. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Police today arrested the organiser of the event Narayan Sahu and three of his bodyguards in this connection. Police have also seized two pistols from the accused.

Police said that all the three arrested bodyguards of Sahu hailed from Uttar Pradesh. The bodyguards have been identified as Varun Kumar Motla, Babloo Kumar and Devender Kumar.  

In the video, a group of men were seen dancing while two of them resorted to blank firing. Both the men reportedly fired seven rounds in the air from two pistols.

Town police have registered a case taking suo moto cognizance of the incident. Police said that they are further probing to ascertain whether both the pistols were procured with proper licences.

Police said that Sahu had as many as 29 criminal cases pending against him with various police stations in Puri.
