Odisha Fin Min presents Annual State Budget-2020 in Assembly, goes paperless

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari presented the State Annual Budget 2020-21 in Odisha Assembly today in a paperless format. With the presentation, Odisha became the second State in the country to go green.

The total budget of the State for the year 2020-21 has been pegged at Rs 1.50 lakh crore, said Pujari while starting the budget presentation through an iPad.

Economic growth of Odisha estimated at 6.16% as compared to national growth rate of 5%. Our government allocates Rs 3195 crore for KALIA scheme for 2020-21, said Pujari.

With special attention to farmers, the State Government has proposed Rs 705 cr for interest-free agriculture loan to farmers under KALIA Scheme and allocated Rs 19,408 crore for Agriculture.

For floodwater management, the new budget has a provision of Rs 1060 crore allocation which will be spent on flood control and floodwater management.

Odisha today became the first State in the country to launch the Gender Budget and Child Budget which will be presented from this fiscal said Pujari.

The Odisha Annual Budget-2020 proposed to hike the MLA LAD fund from Rs 1 cr to Rs 3 cr out of which Rs 2 cr is meant for overall development. Rs 50 lakh will be spent on road construction and the rest Rs 50 lakh will be used in education-related infrastructure development.

The new budget has also set aside a corpus of Rs 150 cr for development of infrastructure at Lord Lingaraj temple in 2020-21 fiscal year. Similarly, a sum of Rs 3,208 cr will be spent to build up the religious town Puri as a world heritage site.

With due importance to the health sector in the State, the new State budget had made a fund allocation of Rs 7,700 crore for the same and aims to build up the SCB Medical in Cuttack into an AIIMS plus healthcare facility.
