Odisha: Ex-Revenue Inspector convicted in vigilance trap case

Angul: Subhashree Priyadarshini, the former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Kiakata Revenue Circle under Athamallik Tahasil in Angul district has been convicted in vigilance trap case by Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul.

Subhashree Priyadarshini was facing trial for the case filed against her on September 28, Under Section 13 (2) r/w 13(1) (d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demand and acceptance of illegal gratification of Rs 4,500 from a complainant to submit verification report to the Tahasildar of Athamallik for issuance of RoR in favour of the complainant.

While conducting the case today, the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul convicted her and sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The Court further sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay a fine of Rs 8,000 for the offence U/s 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
