Kendrapara: Rajnagar JMFC court in the district allowed the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday to take gangster Sheik Usman Ali alias Tito again on a fresh 4-day remand for questioning him about his crime and business network. Tito’s remand period will begin on July 30 and will conclude on August 2.
The court’s permission came after the gangster was produced before it today by the STF.
According to reports, the investigating agency had prayed for a 10-day remand. However, the court permitted them to take Tito on a four-day remand.
Sources said the STF will interrogate the gangster about his role in tender fixing, extortion and other criminal activities during the fresh remand.
The Vigilance officials, earlier in the day, had conducted raids on seven government offices in Kendrapara, Cuttack and Chandikhol.
Separate teams of the Vigilance raided RTO offices in Kendrapara, Cuttack and Chandikhol simultaneously.
In Kendrapara, the officials searched the Municipality and the Supplies Department offices and Tehsil offices in Derabis and Garadpur where several documents were seized.
The move came after the vigilance department came to know about some officials extending undue favours to the gangster.
Tito was arrested after he was injured in a police encounter near Chandikhole in Jajpur district on June 30.
Post his arrest, the STF had taken the gangster on remand thrice earlier.
