Nursing girl found charred to death near home in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The charred body of a nursing student was found under mysterious conditions from a cropland near his home in Kankadia village under Kendrapara Sadar police limits on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Rukmini Swain (19), daughter of Brajabandhu Swain of the same village.

Rukmini’s death came to light after her family member found her missing from home in the morning and launched a frantic search. Her half burnt body was spotted lying in a cropland located only 100 metres away from her home. A kerosene jar was also found by the side of the deceased.

The deceased who was studying nursing in a private medical college in Bhubaneswar was on a visit to her home after completion of her course yesterday when the incident took place. She had to join on a new job today, informed her family.

Police reached the spot and carried out the preliminary investigation with the help of scientific team later in the morning.

While it is yet to be ascertained if it is a case of suicide or murder the family of the deceased has claimed that she was found under mental stress after returning home. They suspect it to be a case of self-immolation.

An investigation is underway in the incident.
