Angul: A newlywed woman was mowed down by a speeding train at Jharasingha village under Banarpal Tehsil in the district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Jhara Sahu, daughter of Subarna Sahu of Jharasingha.
Some locals first spotted the body of the deceased on the rail track near the village. The deceased was found with her head separated from the body. Later on Banarpal Police reached the spot after getting intimation and seized the body.
Jhara who had been married off in Bainda village under Kaniha Tehsil a few months ago, was on a visit to her paternal home when the incident took place. While it appeared to be a case of suicide from the circumstantial evidences, police are investigating it from all angles.
