Newly-elected MLAs of Odisha Assembly to take oath today

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Amar Prasad Satpathy, who was sworn in yesterday as the Pro-tem speaker of Odisha Assembly will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-elected MLAs starting from today.

The oath taking of the MLAs will be held in a 2-day short session of the Assembly which will continue from 10am to 5pm today and tomorrow in the presence of CM Naveen Patnaik, who will be attending it as the leader of the House.

Notably, due to the scheduled oath taking ceremony of the newly-elected MLAs that Naveen skipped the swearing-in of PM Narendra Modi and his ministry at New Delhi today, despite an invitation for the same.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal yesterday administered the oath of Pro-tem Speaker to Satpathy. He will be performing his duties till the election of the Speaker of Odisha Assembly on June 1.
