Umerkote: A newborn baby boy has been rescued from a garbage can in Umerkote of Odisha on Tuesday. The baby boy was rescued from near the Teachers’ Colony behind the Power Department Office.
According to reports, the incident took place under Umerkote municipality. Someone threw the newborn baby in a nearby garbage can.
Some time later, a woman went to the area to fetch water and heard the baby crying. She alerted nearby locals and they rescued the child and took him to the Umerkote group health center.
After treatment, the health of the baby is said to have improved. “Once it is fully recovered, it will be handed over to the CWC,” said the Paediatrics Specialist at the hospital.
