Nandankanan Zoo Gets Capuchin And Squirrel Monkey

Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoo today received one pair of Capuchin and one pair of Squirrel Monkey from Chennai.

Zoo officials said that both are exotic primate species and with the addition of these two new species, the number of species in the zoo has reached 156.

Zoo officials said that Squirrel monkeys live in the tropical forests of Central and South America while Capuchins usually occupy the wet lowland forests on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and Panama and deciduous dry forest on the Pacific coast.

Zoo officials said that vets at the zoo are keeping a close watch on the health condition of the new animals.
