Berhampur: A murder accused attempted suicide under police custody at Pattapur police station in Ganjam district this morning.
The accused identified as Siba Patra (42) has been admitted at the MKCG Medical College and hospital in Berhampur.
Police said that Patra wanted in a murder case in 2016 was nabbed last night from his village. The accused was lodged at the hajat of the police station.
Patra, however, tried to hang himself with the help of a gamcha and also banged his head against the wall.
Police personnel present in the police station immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital from where he was referred to the MKCG Medical College.
