Rayagada: A woman and her son allegedly committed suicide after losing money in betting on matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) match. The incident took place in Jhimiripeta village of Rayagada district.
The deceased have been identified as Rajni Gudula and her son Somesh Gudula.
Reportedly, it has been alleged that some people were harassing the mother-son duo and pressurizing them to pay back the money that was lost in IPL betting.
The family members of the duo have also alleged that a group of people had also turned up at their house threatened them and took away their house furniture following which the duo was locked inside the house for three days.
As a result, they killed themselves by consuming poison. While Somesh took his last breath at the house, his mother Rajni was declared brought dead at Rayagada District Headquarter Hospital (DHH).
On getting the information, the local police arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation.
