Cuttack: Killer online game ‘Momo Challenge’ loomed large again in the state last night after a youth committed suicide under mysterious circumstances in Umar village of Mahanga tehsil under Bhadreshwar Police Outpost in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Umakant Behera (25).

Umakant who went missing from his home late last night was later found hanging to the ceiling of an under construction house by a rope in the village.

Police seized the body of the deceased for autopsy after reaching the spot and lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident.

While police found ‘Momo Challenge’ application from the mobile phone of the deceased, his family members have also claimed that he took the extreme step under the instructions of the game controller.

“My son was working in a private company in Chennai and had returned home some three months ago. Since then he went busy with his mobile phone and started remaining very quiet recently. I suspect the role of the deadly game in his suicide,” said Alekh Behera, deceased’s father.
