Modi to hold talks with Trump today

Modi-TrumpWashington DC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with US President Donald Trump here on Monday.  This will be the first meeting between the two leaders.

Ahead of his US visit, the Prime Minister had said he is looking forward to the opportunity of having an in-depth exchange of views.

In a tweet, Modi said his US visit is aimed at deepening ties between the two countries which will benefit the two nations and the world. On the other hand, President Trump called Modi a ‘true friend’ in a tweet and said he looks forward to welcome Prime Minister Modi and discuss important strategic issues.

The two leaders, who have earlier spoken three times over phone, will hold talks in the White House. They will spend several hours together in various settings, including one-on-one and delegation level meetings, a cocktail reception and a working dinner.

The working dinner that Trump is hosting for Modi inside the White House is the first of its kind under the present administration.
