Miscreants open fire at trader brothers in Odisha’s Rairangpur

Rairangpur: Tension prevailed near Link Road area under Rairangpur Town police limits today after unidentified miscreants opened fire and injured two traders at a rice godown.

The victim traders have been identified as two siblings namely Daya Shankar Sahu and Gouri Shankar Sahu.

The incident took place in the morning soon after the sibling duo opened their godown located near the Link Road to start business. At least three unidentified men arrived there on a bike and pretended to sell paddy. While the trader was paying them the cash they took out revolver and opened fire at him with an intent to loot money.

“They arrived at my godown at around 7.15 AM with 30 kg paddy and wanted to sell those. While I was trying to pay them cash after purchasing the paddy one of them took out a revolver and threatened me to hand over all the cash. As I protested he opened fire at us and fled away,” informed one of the injured traders.

Both the injured were rushed to Rirangpur Hospital and then shifted to Tata Hospital for better treatment.

Rairangpur Police has started investigation into the incident and called up scientific team from Baripada of late to assist in the investigation.
