Baripada: Unidentified miscreants decamped with cash worth over Rs 1.5 lakh after barging into Khunta office of North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) and tying up the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) last night.
The SDO identified as Prashant Kumar Mana was resting in the office late in the night when an odd 9-10 looters struck breaking open the doors. After threatening the SDO with crowbars which they had brought with them, the looters robbed the cash kept in the iron chest of the office and ran away.
“At least five masked burglars entered my room breaking open the doors and tied me up. Later they looted the cash collected during a revision camp court of NESCO held in Khunta on Friday. They also took away the SIM and memory card of my mobile phone before leaving the spot”, said SDO.
The SDO was rescued only after Khunta Police reached the spot today morning and started an investigation.
