Massive gas leak as LPG tanker meets with an accident in Odisha, locals panicked

Bhadrak: Massive gas leakage from an LPG tanker, after it met with an accident, has caused acute panic among the locals in Rahanja area of the district this evening.

According to reports, an Indane gas tanker met with an accident on National Highway-16 near Rahanja following which massive gas is leaking from the LPG tanker.

While the locals are in a state of fear, traffic has also been massively hit on the route following the leakage of gas.

Local police, firefighters along with Bhadrak district collector Gyana Das are at the spot.

“An Indane gas tanker was on its way going from Paradip. However, it had a crash with a vehicle after another vehicle hit it from behind. The accident has taken place near Rahanja, about five kilometres away from Bhadrak. After the accident gas started leaking profusely due to high-pressure,” said the district collector.

Massive gas leak

“We have blocked the NH and cordoned-off the locality to avoid any possible major mishap.  Besides, we have requested the people living near the NH not to use fire in any circumstances as the gas has spread across the area. It may take some time to dissipate from the area,” he added.

The Collector further said, “We are taking all possible measures to stop the leakage of the gas and clear the traffic on the NH. An engineering team from Balasore has also been called to help us.”
