Maoists kill 1, torch 9 vehicles on Malkangiri border

Malkangiri: Red-terror loomed large in Malkangiri again last night, after a group of armed Maoists raided a road construction camp in Bhupathi Rao Peta village under Bhadrachalam in Telengana State bordering the district and killed one person on suspicion of police informer. They also left another injured after setting a number of vehicles afire.

The deceased has been identified as Madbi Jogaiah. The injured is Ramesh.

At least 40 odd heavily armed red rebels barged into the construction camp at around 12 PM while work was underway for a village road. Led by uniformed cadres of Andhra Odisha Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group, the assailants first captured and tied up Madbi in the camp. Later they shot him dead branding him as police informer. They also attacked Ramesh and injured him.

Maoists set at least nine construction vehicles on fire in the camp including four tippers, three JCBs, one bulldozer and one tractor during the attack. They also left several posters on the spot warning people against passing the information on Maoist movement in the area.

The injured has been rushed to Bhadrachalam Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

While the Bhadrachalam police have seized the body reaching the camp, combing operation has been intensified in and around the area to catch holed up Maoists.
