Maoist Martyrs’ Week begins, government bus service stopped in Malkangiri, Rayagada

Malkangiri/Rayagada : Commuters had a harrowing experience in Malkangiri and Rayagada districts starting from the morning today as plying of government buses came to a complete halt in view of the Martyrs’ Day observation by the Maoists.

As per the report, plying of at least 13 buses in 11 routes in Malkangiri and Rayagada have been stopped as a precautionary measure.

The Martyrs’ Day observation which started today amidst tight security arrangements by the district administrations and police will continue till August 3.

To keep any untoward incidents at bay and foil Red attempts to disturb law and order situation in both the districts during the observation, the areas bordering Odisha and Chhattisgarh have been sealed. Similarly, the combing operation in the sensitive areas has been intensified.

While a number of Red posters came up at different places ahead of the Martyrs’ Day observation by urging people take part in it, security personnel have maintained strict vigil in the area.
