Man involved in loot in Bengaluru held from Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A joint team of Basudevpur and Bengaluru Police on Saturday arrested a looter from Nuagaon area in Bansada tehsil in the district last night and seized precious gold and diamond jewelries worth lakhs along with cash from his possession.

The arrested looter has been identified as Biswajit Mallick of Nuagaon village.

The loot items seized from the accused’s possession include Rs 5 lakh in cash, 2 diamond wrist watches, and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees.

Informing on the arrest, Basudevpur Police said Biswajit is accused of looting the house of a person namely Manish Ranka of Bengaluru city, where he lived on rent for at least one month with a false identity of Shankarshan Das. He escaped to his village after looting gold and diamond jewelleries and watches along with cash from the victim’s house a few days.

After Manish lodged a case with Bengalur Police in connection with the loot, it swung into action and traced the accused by tracking his mobile phone to arrest him with the help of Basudevpur Police.

The accused has been handed over to Bengaluru Police for interrogation after arrest.
